Woody's Barndominium Tour, 3/13/2023

I believe there's a lot of room for improvement online, and I want to be part of that change, so every month, I'm doing a live tour of our barndominium. We did our first tour last night, and will do it again in April.

The point of this exercise isn't just to show you our house, it's to be honest about our situation.

Here's how I see it.

There's a ton of DIYers and home building accounts that show you before and afters, they're pretty satisfying... but what about all the in-between?

What about all those half finished projects and times when things aren't even on your radar to get started?

I want to be totally honest about those things. We built this house pretty inexpensively (at this point i'm guesstimating about $110/sqft), and that means, there's a lot of projects left to do.

the short list

  • laundry room cabinetry

  • laundry chute

  • finish master shower

  • built in closet in nursery

  • paint small shelf in pantry

  • add shelves in pantry

  • organize garage

  • seal subflooring in mezzanine

  • seal concrete in garage bays 2 & 3

  • grow some grass

  • put a roof on the well shed

  • build a fence

  • plant all the things I bought

  • build cabinets in the office

  • find some couches

  • build a dining table

  • paint trim on the stairs

  • build the range hood cover

  • tile the backsplash in the kitchen

  • add transitions to bathrooms upstairs

  • re-grout jack and Jill bath

  • order shower glass

  • build the master closet

You get the picture... it's a long long list, but none of it is critical or stops us from enjoying the home we've built. I want to show you that side of barndominiums, along with the pretty stuff.

Social media has a way of pushing us, and often I see people pushed in two directions.

Humility or Ego

I choose humility. I choose to share with you the good, the bad, the ugly, and the unfinished.

For now, our live tours will be held on the 1st Sunday of the month, at 7PM Eastern time.

If you can't make it to the live streams. don't worry, we are going to post tours of our home to our YouTube channel too, though they will be a little more produced, and less impromptu.

here's a link to that if you'd like to subscribe! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoWsNtJ3lI2pPCsJCS0wiYg

If you tuned into our live you probably saw a lot of stuff, so I've included links to some of our more recognizable items. A few items are affiliate links, meaning I collect a small commission if you purchase them, but this is at no additional cost to you. These affiliate commissions are teeny tiny but do help to get projects done around here.

Building this house was a dream, moving in has been a huge weight off of us, and we couldn't be more excited to share all of the projects we have in the works.

Thanks for stopping by!

Megan & Woody
