What It Cost To Build A Barndominium In Kentucky, Home By @KentuckyFriedBarnHouse

Updated: Apr 9, 2023

Welcome to #WhatItCostWednesday where I bring you a barndominium build with as much detail (from the owner) about what it cost to build. This week I'm feauturing this black and white farmhouse...

THE DETAILS 3,300 sq ft living 900 sq ft garage (heated) $300,000.00 to build (not including land) self built- owner contracted out concrete, drywall, plumbing, HVAC, insulation, and metal sheathing Post-Frame construction Built from October 2020- December 2021

Do they love their home? "We love our home. Of course there are some things we would change if we had it to do over again, but we love it." As we all know, we dont get everything we want when we build. When asked what they secrificed, they said, "We had planned to make our pantry a safe room for storms but that didnt happen. I really wish we would have because we get tornadoes

through December."

Their advice for anyone looking to build... "You have two choices 1. Do most of the work yourself in order to afford what you want and it will take longer or 2. Downsize the build to fit your budget, contract it all out and get done quicker….either way- expect delays and overages."

If you would like to see more of their work, check them out on their personal instagram @KentuckyFriedBarnHouse or their business page, @GFRConstruction. After completing their build, this self-contracting duo went into business building for others around Spencer County, Kentucky. To contact them for your own build, please email GFRConstructionKY@gmail.com.
